Today, Representative John Curtis (R-UT) released the following statement after the House passed the FY25 Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement and National Defense Authorization Act. This critical legislation includes two amendments authored by Curtis: one prohibiting the Secretary of Defense from knowingly allowing the sale of goods from companies boycotting the State of Israel in commissary stores or military exchanges, and another modernizing reporting requirements regarding Iranian military capabilities.
“Supporting our service members, their families, and our allies is paramount to protecting the United States,” said Rep. Curtis. “This bill reflects Utah’s priorities by bolstering our defense capabilities, strengthening our alliances, and ensuring our military is well-prepared to meet evolving threats. These amendments reaffirm our unwavering commitment to Israel and ensure we remain vigilant in addressing threats from Iran. I’m pleased to see this bipartisan legislation move forward.”
The FY25 NDAA focuses on strengthening the military, improving servicemembers’ quality of life, and addressing critical national security concerns. Highlights include a 14.5% pay raise for junior enlisted servicemembers and a 4.5% pay raise for all other service members. It also underscores Utah’s unique contributions to national defense initiatives.
