Curtis Votes Against the Great American Outdoors Act
Washington, DC,
July 22, 2020
Today, Representative John Curtis (R-UT), Deputy Republican Leader of the National Parks, Forests, and Public Lands Subcommittee on the House Natural Resources Committee, released the following statement on the Great American Outdoors Act: “Since coming to Congress, I have championed multiple pieces of legislation to preserve, protect, and enhance recreation on public lands. I voted last year to permanently reauthorize the Land and Water Conservation Fund and was a vocal original supporter of legislation to reduce the deferred maintenance backlog at our national parks,” said Curtis. “While I support the intent of the Great America Outdoors Act, it is fiscally irresponsible to put nearly $1 billion dollars per year on autopilot in perpetuity. Doing so would make it impossible for Congress to ensure the program is accomplishing its mission of creating better recreational opportunities for the public.” ### |
