PRICE, UT – Today, Congressman John Curtis hosted a roundtable discussion with the Sutherland Institute to talk about what he’s doing to help address the opioid epidemic and its relationship to unemployment in Utah’s rural communities. Hosted in Price with the Sutherland Institute, Rep. Curtis talked about his POPPY Act which recently passed the House of Representatives as a part of a large package of over 70 bills designed to help combat the opioid crisis.

“Today’s conversation in the community that is disproportionately impacted by the opioid crisis was incredibly important,” said Rep. Curtis. “Nearly 6 Utahns die every week from an opioid overdose, and the crisis has had an alarming effect on rural economies in the state. I’m hopeful that we will continue to work together on solutions that will address treatment and recovery, addiction prevention, and community protection. “
