Hatch/Curtis Anti-Trafficking Bill Headed to President
Washington, DC,
December 17, 2018
Congressman John Curtis’ bill, the Public-Private Partnership Advisory Council to End Human Trafficking Act is on its way to the President’s desk. The companion bill to Senator Orrin Hatch’s legislation, this historic bill will coordinate efforts through the Public-Private Partnership Advisory Council to streamline unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles, improve Federal government practices, and empower nonprofits and nongovernmental organizations in the fight against human trafficking.
“Organizations like Utah’s Operation Underground Railroad (OUR) have made a tremendous impact in fighting human trafficking across the world. We can help them do more, said Curtis. With better coordination and partnership with federal government agencies, imagine what they can accomplish. This legislation is a historic step in our journey to end human trafficking and I thank Senator Hatch for leading the charge.”
“Nongovernmental organizations and nonprofit groups like Utah’s Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R.) have done incredible work in fighting the scourge of human trafficking and bringing this critical fight to the forefront,” Hatch said. “I believe that with better cooperation and partnership with federal government agencies, they can do even more, and the key to that is coordination. This Public-Private Partnership Advisory Council allows government agencies to draw from the unique knowledge and experience of groups like O.U.R., allowing us to leverage government resources to fight human trafficking around the world.”
