Curtis: “COVID-19 Bill Needs to Give Targeted Help to Vulnerable Individuals and Small Businesses”

Today, Representative John Curtis (R-UT) released the following statement on any additional COVID-19 legislation:

“Any legislation related to COVID-19 needs to give targeted help to vulnerable individuals and the thousands of small businesses, and their millions of employees, that remain shuttered through no fault of their own. This is why I, and a bipartisan group of my colleagues, introduced the PPP Small Business Enhancement Act in late July to provide this type of targeted relief,” said Curtis. “That said, too many politicians have used COVID-19 as an excuse to attempt to pass their unrelated policy proposals. I hope Congress can put politics aside as proposals keep being put forward for consideration by the full House.”

Congressman Curtis has been fighting for small businesses throughout the pandemic:

  • Championed support for small businesses and requested further guidance from the Small Business Adminsistration (SBA) related to loan forgiveness for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) (MORE)
  • Sent a letter regarding the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) to the US Department of the Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, advocating for small businesses back home that are in desperate need of common-sense relief (MORE)
  • Introduced a bipartisan bill to amend the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) (MORE)
