Congressman John Curtis had the following to say on the Wall Street Journal reporting of record drug overdose deaths in the United States:

"The recent Wall Street Journal reporting is incredibly sobering. Overdose deaths this year have now eclipsed 100,000 and served as the 4th leading cause of death during 2020, just behind COVID-19. So many of the communities that I am privileged to represent are impacted in one way or another by the growing and very tragic opioid epidemic, which has only been amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic. I have repeatedly called for further congressional action to provide access to critical services and stand ready to work with my colleagues, in a bipartisan manner, on the Energy and Commerce Committee to deliver for the millions of Americans and their families who are struggling to overcome the vicious cycle of addiction."
