Curtis Champions Bipartisan Resolution on Clean Energy

Today, Representative John Curtis (R-UT), member of the House Natural Resources Committee, spoke on the House floor to advocate for “National Clean Energy Week.” National Clean Energy Week (NCEW) is an annual awareness campaign to recognize the value of clean energy, which includes good-paying jobs, economic growth, energy independence, consumer choice, lower energy prices, and a cleaner environment, with a goal of advancing bipartisan support of our nation’s clean energy sector. Earlier this week, the Congressman led 71 other bipartisan members of the House of Representatives in a resolution to declare this week as “National Clean Energy Week.”

The full speech, as prepared for delivery, is below:

“I rise today in support of Clean Energy Week, an opportunity to celebrate bipartisan support for the wide variety of clean energy sources strengthening America’s national security while also preserving our environment for future generations.

The environment is, and should be, a bipartisan issue.

That is why this week I am proud to lead, with my friend Congressman Lowenthal of California, a bipartisan resolution in support of congressionally supporting the designation of Clean Energy Week.

In fact, my legislation was introduced with 71 original cosponsors, divided nearly evenly between Republicans and Democrats.

This goes to show that we can and must work across the aisle to be better caretakers of our planet, and I plan to continue the pursuit of these positive bipartisan policies while in Congress.

I yield the balance of my time.”
