Congressman John Curtis issued the following statement after voting to balance our country’s budget.
“Today, I was disappointed that many of my colleagues demonstrated their lack of fiscal restraint by voting to kill the balanced budget amendment. For the first time this unchecked federal spending will lead to a $1 trillion deficit, and nothing will be done to address America’s $20 trillion debt. This is a reckless way to govern,” said Curtis. “We must take meaningful steps towards reigning in spending and reducing our debt. Every household and small business has to balance their checkbooks and live within their means. Why should Washington be exempt? It’s time to take note of how Utah keeps our fiscal house in order by balancing our budget every year. I remain committed to working with our delegation and my colleagues in Congress to reign in out-of-control spending.”
