I wanted to provide you with additional information that may be helpful to you as our country moves forward with addressing the challenges associated with coronavirus.

TAKING ACTION

Here in Congress:

On March 27 we passed the CARE Act, to deliver needed relief to America’s workers, small businesses, and hospitals. I spoke on the House floor about the bill, click here for the full release.

Earlier this month, Congress passed $8 billion in emergency funding, which was signed into law by President Trump, to combat coronavirus. This funding package will help speed the development of vaccines, bolster access to testing and treatments, and expand access to telemedicine services. Our country is also dramatically increasing the number of tests – private companies began shipping lab tests this week – which will in turn exponentially increase our testing capabilities.

We passed a second emergency relief package which authorizes $1 billion in 2020 for emergency administration grants to states for processing and paying unemployment insurance (UI) benefits, under certain conditions. More information below:

Back in Utah:

Governor Herbert has delegated Lt. Governor Cox to lead a task force of public health leaders, business leaders, public school professionals and community advocates to examine best practices to avoid community spread. They’ve been meeting regularly. For updates on what the State of Utah is doing to keep Utahns healthy and safe, please visit coronavirus.utah.gov.

Staying Healthy:

  • Make sure to wash your hands.
  • Refrain from touching your face. 
  • Know the symptoms: fever, cough, shortness of breath.
  • If you’re feeling sick, stay at home and contact your medial care provider.
